A middle-aged man is suspected to have committed suicide last night in Kisumu over differences with his girlfriend.
The man was spotted jumping from a footpath along Kisumu-Nairobi road next to Lions High School.
He landed on a Nairobi bound bus and was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle.
Nobody on the bus was hurt as the driver made an emergency stop.
Nyanza regional traffic commandant Andrew Naibei says the man died on the spot upon being crushed on the head. Naibei says the vehicle was later released after police inspection to continue with the journey to Nairobi.
The body was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
Residents of Nyalenda, who identified the deceased, reported that he had differences with his girlfriend and that was linked to the reason why he committed suicide.
