The mother of former Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okello has died.
Teodora Akech died on Thursday night at the St Joseph Omboo Mission Hospital in Migori where she had been admitted, according to reports on Citizen Digital.
This comes barely 4 months after the death of Okello who succumbed to cancer on June 19.
The former broadcaster and popular Radio presenter came to office on the opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in the previous 2017 general elections, becoming the second senator of the county after Wilfred Machage.
Senator Okello’s seat has since been filled by former Cabinet Minister and Rongo lawmaker Ochillo Ayacko in a by-election that was conducted on Monday.
Okello was buried in Kanyimach village, Migori County on July 9, in an event that was attended by top public and political figures led by opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Also present were thousands of admirers and villagers who came to bid him goodbye.
