Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has finally admitted that he carried a gun at Dusit on Wednesday last week and not a powerbank as previously mentioned.
This came after a photo revealing a protuding gun in his pocket went viral on social media.
His communications director Elkana Jacob earlier denied this saying that it was a powerbank.
“That object in the governor’s pocket wasn’t a pistol. You would easily know that if you have knowledge of how a pistol looks like. That object was a power bank,” Jacob said.
But speaking on Wednesday evening during a TV show, Sonko rubbished earlier reports by his communication director and confirmed that he actually had a gun.
"I’d like to differ with my communications director and not lie to Kenyans. I didn’t carry a power bank to Dusit during the terrorist attack. I carried a gun," he confirmed.

He further disclosed that he was proficient at using firearms accurately.
Sonko had accompanied Internal Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to the scene where the CS gave a press briefing on the police operations at the scene of the terror attack.
The manner in which Governor Sonko handled the fire arm ilicited reactions with a number of Kenyans bashing him of showing off.
