Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga has congratulated Kisumu All-stars, Wazito FC on qualifying to play in Kenya Premier League (KPL).

Raila, who doubles as African Special envoy, said that he was impressed with the performance of the two teams. He also said that their entrance will make the league more competitive. 

“Congratulations @KisumuAllstars and @wazitofc on qualifying to play in @TheOfficialKPL next season. We look forward to a more competitive and entertaining football. Hongera,” he tweeted.

Wazito were crowned the 2019 National Super League (NSL) champions after displaying exemplary performance.

The team, under coach Fred Ambani-made history after thrashing St Joseph youth 7-1 at Camp Toyoyo on Sunday to enable it to stage a comeback in KPLJoe Waithira netted a hat-trick and Amos Asembeka added a brace.

Derrick Onyango and Paul Acqua scored a goal each during the match.

 “Congratulations to the boys for getting the team back to the premier league and winning the title. The season has been a tough one and to finish on top is all because of the hard work,” he said.

Wazito finished at the top with 81 points. The coach attributed the team’s excellent results to dedication and cooperation he received from the players during the just ended season.
