The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji wants the owner of the killer Patel dam Perry Mansukh, the dam General Manager Vinoj Kumar and other people charged with manslaughter in relation to the May 9 tragedy denied bond or bail.
The DPP claims that Mansukh is a flight risk and is likely to runaway if he is granted bond and bail.
Through Senior State Counsel Catherine Mwaniki, the DPP asked Naivasha principal magistrate Joseph Karanja to deny Manuskh and others bail.
The DPP further claims Mansukh and other accused persons in the Solai case are people of influence and are likely to interfere with the case if freed on bond.
"We are praying that this court denies bond or bail for the accused persons for the sake of innocent women, children and elderly persons who died in the Solai tragedy," DPP told court.
The DPP also wants the suspects denied bond on grounds that the case has attracted public interest.
Mansukh and two others were charged on Thursday with 48 counts of manslaughter, neglect of duty and failure to prepare environmental assessment reports in regards to the Patel dam.
The three pleaded not guilty to the charges.
More suspects are expected at the Naivasha Law court today to plead to the manslaughter charges.
The court will also make a ruling on whether to grant bail or bond to suspects charged on Thursday.
