The Kenya Airways has announced the departure of its Chief Operating Officer Jan de Vegt.
Vegt leaves at a time when the airline is struggling to retain its lost glory after a series of challenges.
Vegt has cited lack of support other members of the management after penning a retirement letter to the top brass.
The management thanked him for the role he played in transforming its fortune before he called it quits.
“Kenya Airways decided to stop all support by KLM. For this reason, I am returning to Amsterdam… as there will be no COO in KQ from now on, I will close this account. Until we meet again,” read part of its statement, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Vegt has, however, assured its customers that the partnership between Dutch’s KLM and KQ is still in place.
He also said that the two will continue to work together for the sake of the clients from different parts of the world.
He had served the airline from August 1, 2016, after succeeding Yves Guibert before he decided to leave.
The airline management is now walking tightrope after Chief Executive Officer Sebastian Miksoz, also revealed that he will be stepping down.
According to the airline the position is no longer part of its management structure.
