Former Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal now claims that Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria might land a lucrative slot in the next government using his new political strategy.
The politician and renowned businessman argued that though Kuria's presidential ambitions will not materialise, he is using his bid as a political tact to achieve a bigger goal after 2022.
He observed that Kuria is most likely trying to popularise himself, only to later join hands with the frontrunner when the race heats up, in exchange for a position at the high table.
Shahbal said that at the same time, he might use his 2022 bid to prepare the ground to vie for the top seat in the future. The businessman, however, argued that Kuria must be extra cautious to avoid being fooled.
"Next, he will run for president but will eventually throw his weight behind the front runner in exchange for a position at the high table. This was Deputy President William Ruto's strategy in 2013. Ruto supported President Uhuru Kenyatta hoping for his support when his time came," said Shahbal.
"Kuria will use the same strategy and hope that the woes of Ruto do not come back to haunt him as well. Political debts are bouncing cheques," he added.
