Celebrated TV anchor Jacque Maribe is in 'low spirits' and does not want to see friends at Lang'ata Women prison, it has emerged.
On Monday, Maribe was slapped with another seven days behind bars by Justice Jessie Lessit after the DPP ordered that she's faces murder charges over the death of Monica Kimani.
Despite spirited defense by Katwa Kigen to have her take plea, the judge insisted that she undergoes mental assessment, a move that made her literally break down in court.
An officer at Lang'ata prison said the Citizen TV anchor was seen depressed at the time officers visited her.
"She is in low spirits and it was written all over her face. She wasn't ready to meet anyone and seems she's disturbed a lot," he said.
Ms. Maribe will be charged along with her fiance Joseph Irungu, whom police link directly to the murder.
Detectives have established that Ms. Maribe may have been aware of the crime committed by Irungu and that she was determined to conceal evidence.
Similar situation was reported by s section of her fans who thronged to the female facility in solidarity with her.
"We went to see her but she wasn't ready at all. We tried our best but she couldn't let anyone of us in," said Olivia Moraira.
