Police investigating the murder of Monica Kimani say they have been unable to recover a knife or sharp weapon that was used to slit the deceased’s throat.
Detectives are holding Joseph Irungu alias Jowie as the key suspect in the murder.
On Monday, October 15, Jowie and his lover Jacque Maribe took a plea before the high court where they were jointly charged with murdering Kimani.
As police look for the murder knife, Kenyans on social media have unmasked a weapon that Jowie carried everywhere and which might interest investigators.
The weapon is a para claw that was concealed in a bracelet Jowie always wore. One blog that deals with weapons described it as a 1.5 inch hawk bill blade ground from stainless steel.
“The blade is integrally molded to a glass/nylon guard that ties into the bracelet,” the blog adds.
Netizens have been sharing photos of Jowie wearing the weapon.
In these two photos here, Jowie is seen with the para claw.
However, since he was arrested he has not been seen with the weapon. It is not clear when he removed it and where it is.“It surely should interest detectives,” a police officer who preferred anonymity said.
