Former Starehe Member of Parliament Margaret Wanjiru has weighed in on the heating debate on whether or not politicians should be allowed to take politics in churches.
This comes at a time when two major denominations have completely banned political activities from their pulpits, these being the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) and Catholic.
The two have also warned against politicians' contributions and tithes in churches, cautioning that some might be proceeds of corruption offered for cleansing.
But the Jesus Is Alive Ministries founder is of the contrary opinion and is of the stand that churches cannot wholly and blindly ban politicians from addressing their faithful.
She says that politicians can be allowed to speak in her church if they demonstrate that they espouse the values of the country and are promoting unity and biblical principals.
Failure to this, she added on Friday, they will not be allowed in her church and should not be entertained anywhere else.
“If a person espouses the values of our nation then we cannot deny them the chance to address us in church. If they share the virtues of unity, development and biblical principles then we welcome them but if they do not then they have no business on the pulpit,” she told the Standard.
About tithes and contributions, she said that God looks at the heart of the giver.
