Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is a no-nonsense man.
On August 2, 2017, the second term governor became the talk of the town after he stormed KTN's live interview at Mulu Mutisya Gardens in Machakos town demanding an explanation on why the station was giving its critics platform to tarnish his name.
The county boss claimed he had found a group of youths planning to storm the live set and burn down equipment belonging to KTN because "their" governor was being insulted on the live television.
Mutua said he would not allow a section of political leaders opposed to his leadership to tarnish his name as he sought to transform the locals' lives.
The programme's host, Mashirima kapombe had reportedly made unsuccessful attempts to invite Mutua to the show since he never picked her phone calls.
KTN crew went ahead to interview an expert Jimmy Mutunga after Mutua failed to turn up for the show.
Mutua, however, emerged from nowhere and caused drama in live TV show leaving many in shock.
The governor said he was away in his campaigns when some youths told him about the show.
“I was on my way from campaigns when I saw a group of youths coming here and they told me that someone was lying live on TV. I came to find out why you had not invited me to the show so that I defend myself," Mutua said.
