Cases of defilement continue to rise in various parts of Luo Nyanza.
The latest incident is that of a 15-year old boy allegedly defiling an 8-month-old baby girl in Siaya County.
The suspect was arrested on Saturday, following claims of defiling his sisters’ young daughter in Ogarama village, Ugenya Constituency.
According to area assistant chief William Lala, the girl’s mother had left her daughter under the care of the Standard Eight pupil as she rushed to a nearby market.
“The alleged defilement was discovered when the woman returned home only to find the child bleeding from her private parts,” Lala is quoted by Citizen Digital.
The assistant chief said the woman rushed her daughter to the nearby Urenga Health Centre.
They were then referred to Ukwala sub-county Hospital where the child was admitted for treatment as the suspect was arrested and detained at the Ukwala police station.
Elsewhere, police in Kisumu on Sunday arrested a man accused of defiling his daughter in Kokelo village, Riat area. The man reportedly impregnated his standard seven daughter after allegedly defiling her.
Confirming the arrest, area Chief Milicent Ajwang noted that the arrest followed a revelation by the victim who reported to her mother that the father has been defiling her for the last two years.
