Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi said that Kenyans are no longer going to vote for self-centred but development oriented leaders in future.
The governor who was speaking on Friday, during the burial of Jenifer Njuki who is a mother to Tharaka Nithi county governor stated that it is time citizens change the mentality and support presidential aspirants who can take care of the country's welfare.
He castigated leaders who like moving around the country canvassing for political support yet they could not deliver.
He added that citizens care much about issues affecting them and a leader who is truly committed to addressing the same deserves their votes.
Meru county boss said that the 2022 presidential elections will be issue-based rather than empty rhetoric.
He warned those malingering around the country, making noise in order to attract the attention of voters yet they had no substantial agenda to offer them.
Murungi said; "My people from Meru County know what they will be looking for when the time comes. We will vote for our interests. We will seek to know those moving around, making noise and those who will be quiet and working for the people."
During the event, Moses Kuria stirred debate when he reaffirmed his 2022 presidential ambitions in the presence of deputy president William Ruto.
He was however,dismissed by some Mt.Kenya leaders present as a mere attention seeking who was going nowhere.
