The clergy had requested for leaders to give their condolences when speaking and keep off politics during the function in order to give the deceased a befitting burial.

The then Machakos County's Water and Education CECs' could not read Mutua's speech as the crowds booed them late Mutua's allies Boniface Mutinda Kabaka and other leaders who were not supporting governor Mutua at one point had their microphones switched off as they made their remarks by the county team that was operating the sound system.
