Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament Richard Onyonka now says that lawmakers are being wrongfully bashed over their ever increasing salaries.
This comes only weeks after the MPs demanded additional allowances, including night allowance, and months after their demand for a housing allowance.
But Onyonka now says that its wrong to brand the legislators thieves of public monies, claiming that want they receive is not enough as most ends up helping the members public.
He termed the narrative as the reason behind the growing hostility against the MPs by the Kenyans, but added that they are being falsely accused of draining the taxpayers' pockets.
"Mambo yale ambayo yanaleta ubishi na kuchochea ni kuwa Kenya hii mbunge anakula pesa fulani kiasi hii...mbunge anapora mali yenu...mbunge anaiba pesa fulani," he said.
"This translates to; " The cause of the disagreements are claims that MPs are earning a certain amount, looting your funds and stealing money.
The MPs spoke on Radio Citizen's Mjadala Wa Citizen on Wednesday morning.
He said that most of the money is actually consumed by the very same Kenyans through fundraisers and other charitable initiatives, leaving them with very little for themselves.
The Ford Kenya MP noted that he is personally receiving messages to help in funerals almost on a daily basis and has atleast one such function to attend every week.
"Mbunge zile pesa anazopata; asaidie kwa matanga, aulizwe asaidie kwa wale ambao wako wagonjwa (the money MPs are earning, tbeya re expected to help in funerals and even the sick)," he added.
