Former Nacada boss John Mututho has called on university and college students to stay focused and shun drugs and substance abuse.
Addressing the students over the weekend during a prayer meeting for the Nakuru County University and College Students Association, Mututho said the youth in the country are facing a lot of challenges including harsh economic times.
Mututho who is also the patron of the Nakuru County University and College Students Association said as much as youth are facing challenges in life, they should use the right mechanisms to address the same.
He cautioned the students against using what he termed as self-prescription to cure stress adding that such a move will lead to more lives lost.
“Don’t engage in drugs to solve your problems. Self-prescription is what is killing our generation,” said Mututho.
The former Naivasha MP also warned students against being misused by politicians.
According to the former legislator, politicians have their own interests and if youths fail to remain focused, they will end up failing to achieve their goals in life.
Mututho commended the students for using the right mechanisms whenever there are misunderstandings in the institutions of higher learning.
He noted that a similar prayer meeting will be held in December, adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to attend the function.
“For the students do not allow yourselves to be used by the politicians but rather remain focused on what you want to achieve in life,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by Reverend Lucy Natasha, former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga who is now the head of the Hope International Ministries, Bishop Mike Brawan of Nakuru based Metro Church among other guests.
