According to the University’s Director of Public Relations Officer Owen McOnyango, some students may miss out on the much-anticipated occasion due to various issues, among them unpaid fees balances or disciplinary issues.

“It is not in our interest to lock out anyone from the graduation list. The verification is still going on. The issue of the missing names is being looked into,” Dr. McOnyango told the Nation.

He added that relevant officials in the respective departments of the institution were working hard to ensure that nobody is locked out of the graduation; with reports indicating that over 300 students are missing from the list.

“Personally, I neither have pending fee balances nor missing marks yet I am not on the graduation list. When we raised the issue with the dean, he promised to look into the matter,” one of the Students was quoted by the Nation.

The issue was raised on Monday after a number of students, claimed that they had been dropped from the graduation list, despite meeting all guidelines and clearing with all the relevant departments.

“We are having a new integrated management system which I think differs from the previous one and it could have resulted into this challenge,” said Maseno University Students’ Union chairman George Sam.
