Deputy President William Ruto and former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka have hailed Liverpool’s Divock Origi for scoring a winning goal in last night's UEFA Champions League final against Tottenham.

Ruto said that Origi proved his class when he netted a goal in 88th minute, to seal the Reds win in Spain after Egyptian Mohammed Salah scored from the penalty spot. 

He also congratulated Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama for the role he played in his team before it reached the finals.

“Great performance and beautiful play by Divock Origi to score the winning goal as @LFC beats @SpursOfficial 2-0 to clinch the coveted @ChampionsLeague Cup. Accolades to @VictorWanyama for playing his part in Spurs' progress to the #UCLfinal Well played," he tweeted.

On his part, Kalonzo said that Wanyama and Origi have made the country proud following their performances at different levels in the Champions League for their different clubs.

“Congratulations Divock Origi and Victor Wanyama with their respective teams Liverpool @LFC and Tottenham @SpursOfficial. Both teams had a great match at the UEFA final. You are a both an inspiration to our youth and sports fraternity. We are proud of you. @DivockOrigi @VictorWanyama," he tweeted.

Liverpool were crowned the champions in a thrilling match that left millions glued on their televisions.
