Amos Cheruiyot who last week hit the headlines after being endorsed by a section of Moi University students to vie for the students' council seat has finally spoken following the endorsements.
Cheruiyot who has been labelled as the next Babu Owino at the Kesses-based university admitted that comrades' endorsement had shaped his future ambitions at the institution as he is now considering to vie for a position at the Moi University Students Organization (MUSO).
"The endorsement I received last week is a great step that has driven me to consider vying for a position in next MUSO elections as this is a clear indication that I have the support of my fellow students," said Cheruiyot.
The 23-year-old student also admitted that being called 'Babu Owino' has further ignited his ambitions to vie for a seat due to Babu Owino's record in the University of Nairobi.
Owino, now the Embakasi MP is famous for fighting for comrades rights that enabled him to win students' union elections consecutively due to his leadership skills.
"I learned recently that I have been nicknamed Babu Owino and that has further urged me to vie for a position in MUSO as this is an indication that comrades have seen my good leadership skills like Babu Owino who is now a Member of Parliament," admitted Cheruiyot.
He further revealed that if given a chance to be in MUSO leadership, he will leave a legacy because of his past leadership skills.
Cheruiyot was appointed a youth leader in his rural ward and believes with the skills he acquired, he can use the same in being a students' leader.
MUSO elections are set to be conducted next year.
