Third Way Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot now claims that his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) counterpart Raila Odinga is a co-leader at the ruling Jubilee Party.
Speaking on Tuesday, the former presidential candidate claimed that Raila ditched the opposition after his truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta in March, last year.
He argued that Raila is now the leader of a second faction within the party, judging by his closeness to the president and newfound powers that have seen him launch projects across the nation.
According to the lawyer, Uhuru, on the other hand, remains the leader of the main party, alongside his deputy William Ruto who is the Jubilee deputy party leader.
"Raila aliingia Jubilee yeye anaongoza Jubilee-B, ilhali Uhuru na Ruto wako katika Jubilee-A (Raila crossed over to Jubilee and is the leader of Jubilee-B, while Uhuru and Ruto are leading the Jubilee-A faction)," he said.
He was speaking on Milele FM's Kivumbi show on Tuesday.
Aukot who emerged a distant second in the October 26, 2017 elections after Raila's boycott, said that he is now the official opposition leader.
"Hawa wameingia serikalini, sisi ndio tuliobaki katika upinzani (they have joined the government, we are the ones remaining in the opposition)," he added.
Raila has since gone mum on matters of national interest, unlike in the past when he criticised and led protests against the State and its policies.
Following his appointment as African Union High Representative For Infrastructure Development in Africa, Raila has been supporting the projects initiated by the Jubilee administration.
However, the ODM Party leader has maintained that he remains in the opposition and has not joined Jubilee.
