ODM leader Raila Odinga has officially assumed roles as African Union ambassador in charge of political development and infrastructure, he has confirmed.
Before jetting into the county on Thursday, Raila passed through Addis Ababa, where he was officially notified on the new development.
"Earlier today I met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Sudan, Hon Deng Dau Deng Malek and African Union Commissioner, Minata Samate in Addis Ababa," he wrote on his Tweet.
Mr. Odinga has taken his Pan-Africanism to several countries and his revolutionary was bouyed by handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
At Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday, Raila confirmed his latest duty, adding that he's keen to see peace and stability across Africa.
"My aim is to see peace across the East Africa and the entire continent. I was asked to assume the roles of AU ambassador on infrastructure and political development, and am glad to take it," he said.
Earlier this year, Raila played an integral role in restoring order in South Sudan after successfully meeting President Salva Kiir and Opposition leader Riek Machar.
In the past, Mr. Odinga has dismissed claims that he was offered a job secretly by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
