Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has broken his silence on the ravaging drought, hunger and starvation that has hit some counties across the country.

Senator Junior says that the drought situation is alarming and needs urgent intervention.

According to the Makueni Senator, President Uhuru Kenyatta needs to act fast and ensure no Kenyan dies of hunger.

The Makueni senator further says that it is insensitive for some top government officials to deny that there is no hunger and starvation in some parts of the country.

In a message to president Uhuru Kenyatta shared on his Twitter account, Senator Kilonzo Junior wrote, "Our dear president. It is insensitive to deny Kenyans are dying of hunger at press conferences and air conditioned offices in NAIROBi."

The vocal Makueni Senator added, "The pictures speak for themselves. At a time like this , we urge you to call to order the entire Government to ensure no Kenyan sleeps hungry."

Drought continues to ravage some parts of the country as millions of Kenyans face starvation.

According to the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) several counties among them Baringo, Turkana, Kilifi, Makueni, Kitui, Tana River, Isiolo, Mandera, Garissa, Wajir, Lamu and Elgeyo Marakwet are facing hunger and starvation as a result of prolonged drought.

As the drought in some parts of the country continue to bite, the national government has refuted claims that some Kenyans are starving to death.

On Saturday, Deputy President William Ruto assured Kenyans that there is enough food in the national reserves.

The DP who spoke in Mandera Town said that no Kenyan will die of hunger and starvation.
