Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday came out during the National Prayer Breakfast to give a confession that touched many people’s hearts.
Taking his time to explain himself in a humble tone, the Kalenjin kingpin explained where God has brought him from.
“In 1980, when I was preparing to do standard seven exams, CPE, that was called then. I remember very well when I went to do the exams, I was bare-footed because of course that was the nature of the village life, we didn’t have shoes. My father bought me my first shoes in 1981 from a Mr.Onyango on the streets for Sh60 because he could not afford the bata shoes,” reads parts of DP Ruto’s speech.
He further went ahead to acknowledge that God has brought him all that way to seating on the high table with the son of the founding father of the nation.
To summarize his speech, he made a confession.
“I have a confession to make. When you see some of us go to church and pray, lift up our hands, sometimes shed tears, make this or that contribution, it is because we cannot forget where God has brought us from. I beg you to understand,” stated DP Ruto.
Ruto also noted that some people have more to thank God for, than others.
“Some of us have more to thank God for, than some of you,” he concluded his confession.
