The outspoken lawmaker has been among the legislators who have continued to fight tooth to nail to see the gender bill get to where it is despite it lacking enough representations during subsequent sittings.

She is quoted defending the bill saying that every person despite their gender deserves to reach their full potential and since women meet several challenges on their way to full potential it was necessary the bill be created to provide a level playing ground.

“The truth is we, as parliament, are unconstitutional. What authority do we have to bring others to account when we are not acting within the constitution by disregarding the gender rule?” she posed in parliament.

“ I watch my male colleagues in this House striving to give the best to their daughters in terms of education, healthcare and holding high aspirations for them hoping that they will live to their fullest potential. This Bill comes to hold their hand and to caution any gender which might not reach their full potential because of some barricades or artificial blockages put on their way” she said.

Moreover, she was on the forefront of those who were demanding that the perpetrators of the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno's murder be arrested and charged according to the law.

She went ahead to urge the police to arrest the Migori governor who had been mentioned in connection to the crime.

In her own county, she has on several occasions advocated for justice for the girl child.   She is quoted August last year, urging relevant authorities to take action after details emerged that there was a rise in cases of defilement, rape and sodomy in Kisumu county, especially Seme sub-county and demanded.

Besides being a women activist, the MP has also been on the forefront in challenging Kenyans to rise up against corruption which is eating up our economy.
