Deputy President William Ruto could have rough times when assemblies start discussing Ekuru Aukot sponsored Punguza Mizigo initiative.
Already, the bill has been subjected to some counties for debate, with the proponents pushing to have support from at least 24 counties of the 47.
But the DP's camp is the already worst hit with conflicting stand on the Bill by two of his loyalist supporters who carry the show in parliament.
On Saturday, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen urged MCAs to pass the bill, arguing that it could resolve some of the countries challenges.
"MCAs have the greatest opportunity to stamp their authority by supporting @EAukot ‘s Punguza Mzigo initiative. MCAs have been despised for far too long. They should approve it overwhelmingly to remind all&sundry that devolution&its institutions matter. Forward the baby to Senate," he said.
But his National Assembly counterpart Aden Duale has already opposed the Bill, an indication of a showdown within Dr Ruto's camp.
“By attempting to cut on the representation of the people, the Punguza Mizigo Bill has begun its journey to the funeral at the County Assemblies, we will lobby them to reject in total,” said Duale.
Mr Aukot has however maintained that the Bill of people oriented, adding that he's confident that it will get requisite support at the assemblies.
He said: “We came to you, you listened and endorsed. We thank IEBC for the above board signature verification exercise. This is for the people of Kenya.”
