Police in Homa Bay County are investigating an incident where three people were shot down while riding on a motorbike on Thursday.
The three were shot by unknown assailants at the Kogwe Junction, along the Rongo-Homa Bay Highway, as they were travelling towards Homa Bay from Rongo, Migori County.
The incident was confirmed by Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney.
The police boss said that preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects had been trailing the three deceased persons.
She added that the suspects might have been following the three in a black saloon car, before taking off immediately after killing them on the spot.
"Our preliminary investigations reveal that the assailants who were traveling in a black saloon car were pursuing the deceased persons," said the police boss, who added that the identity of the dead could not be immediately established.
She added that this was to blame on the fact that none of them had any identification document on them at the time of the incident, reports the Citizen Digital.
The bodies of the deceased are being preserved at the Homa Bay County Hospital Morgue. The motorbike, on the other hand, was towed to the Homa Bay Police station.
