Police in Kangundo have launched investigations into the murder of a 94-year-old granny.
Kangundo Sub-County Police Commander Benjamin Ong'ombe on Thursday stated that the granny from Kivani was raped and later strangled to death by the assailants on Tuesday night.
Her lifeless body was found by her kin on Wednesday morning.
"They woke up on Wednesday morning and found that their mother had not woken up.The door was locked from inside so they got a small kid getting in through. The kid found the woman still asleep," said Ong'ombe on phone.
"When they entered they found her dead, she had been raped by her assailants before being strangled," he added.
Ong'ombe said that the perpetrators gained entry into the house by removing bricks.
"They removed bricks and entered the house and after committing the heinous act, they escaped through the same hole and returned the bricks as they were," he said.
He added that the family took long to report the incident but investigations have commenced.
Her body was taken to Kangudo Level Four Hospital.
