A section of leaders from Meru and Tharaka- Nithi County has promised to stand with Deputy President William Ruto as he seeks to rise to power in 2022.
The leaders have affirmed that Ruto has what it takes to ascend to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as he completes his second and final term in government.
The leaders, however, pleaded with the second in command to pick a running from the region and advocated National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi for the same.

The leaders spoke when they attended a church service at the St. Mathews Mariene AIPCA Church, in Imenti Central, Meru County, on Sunday.
The leaders said that Ruto has proven that he as the will of the people of Kenya at heart and he has supported one of their own to lead for two terms, adding that time has come for them to reciprocate the same.
“It is no longer a secret, the Constitution does not allow President Kenyatta to run in 2022. We should not shy away from discussing the 2022 politics. We should support our people since this region has good leaders who can promote their welfare,” Linturi said.
Murugara said Mr Muturi deserves the running mate slot because he is the third in command.
On his part, Rindikiri said that the leaders seeking to cap donations to church has bad motives because they are not happy with the success of DP Ruto.
The remarks come after ODM Chairman John Mbadi wrote a letter to Speaker of Parliament Justin Muturi seeking to cap the donations at Sh 100, 000.
