A house help is nursing serious injuries in hospital after her boss attacked her for allegedly abandoning work to drink chang’aa.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening in Nyamira town.
Zipporah Biyaki was attacked by her boss, Milka Moraa, after she left a 3-year-old baby in bed and went to drink chang’aa.
“Biyaki has been a good girl since I hired her as a nanny but her behaviors changed after she started interacting with bad company.
"I returned home from work, found my baby in bed alone,” said Moraa.
Moraa said Biyaki didn’t pick calls when she tried to reach her on phone.
“I waited for her two hours only for to return drunk. When I questioned her, she rudely answered back prompting to the attack.
"I had to beat her because she has been living with me since she was 15 years old. I pay her good salary which she should use wisely and not buying chang’aa,” the boss added.
Moraa said she beat her up and later took her to hospital where she was treated and discharged and currently recovering at home.
She said she will not sack her but she will ensure Biyaki abandons the group she has joined.
