Amani National Congress (ANC) leader has piled more pressure on President Uhuru Kenyatta to pull up his socks in the fight against corruption.
Uhuru is on record sending numerous warnings to the corrupt, especially those serving in his government, with the former Vice President now pushing for actions.
He accused the president of talking a lot but, noted that his government is yet to take the next step in ensuring that the nation finally comes out of the graft menace.
“He must do more to support institutions that fight corruption. We need to see people in handcuffs," he was quoted by the People Daily, as having said during an interview on K24 TV on Sunday night.
Mudavadi also proposed the addition of funds allocated to anti-graft institutions, saying that limited resources have been preventing maximum performance from the bodies.
He advised the President to use his Jubilee Party's numerical muscles in both houses to channel more funds to the bodies, failure to which the economy will continue bleeding.
“Jubilee has the majority in Parliament. It does not need Nasa, Wiper or ANC… it has the numbers to allocate sufficient resources to these institutions,” he added.
Despite the president's warnings, no top state official or elected leader has been convicted of engagement in illegal dealings so far.
