Solicitor General Ken Ogeto, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and lawyer Evans Monari are conspicuously missing from Ruto's Nyanzan campaign team.
Already, the DP had dropped veteran politicians Wlater Nyambati, Joseph Kiangoi and even Charles Nyachae as he builds up formidable 2022 campaign team from Gusii region.
Instead, he has settled on young politicians led by Sylvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango) and Kitutu Masaba's Shadrack Mose.
"There was general feeling that newcomers are important in the game thus the decision to include them in the team," said Patrick Osero.
"It is about change of strategy and I think that is what he is doing. New people, new ideas and that is all perhaps he needs," he added.
The trio were part of technocrats who organised and executed Jubilee campaigns in Gusii, a region which could be having estimated population of 1.5 million voters by 2022.
As part of the reward, President Uhuru appointed Ogeto to the powerful Solicitor General position while Matiangi was moved to Interior ministry.
In most of Ruto's trips to Gusii, the three have not shown up or expressed themselves in his favour in their functions at Gusii.
While Matiang'i was being backed to be Ruto's running mate, he has since slowed down and no longer engages in active politics.
