Luos celebrate the life of a departed in style.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

Regardless of how they were when they were alive, Luos strive to historically bury their loved ones and though always a sad moment, the events usually turn to fun-filled activities before the last day.

However, as others enjoy themselves in the so called 'disco matangas', there usually are a set of other things happening in secret.

Here they are.

1. Courting

Some people, especially young men from the village take the sudden convention of mourners to their advantage and use the time to survey among the crowd for their next girlfriends.

And since they usually end up in overnight music and dance, it begins with approaching their targets for a dance, before secret flirting and finally, a possible relationship.

2. Mischief

Catering officials deployed to serve the guests at times use the darkness to allocate themselves a piece of the slain animal for home use.

Other villagers, usually the drunk and malicious persons also go behind the houses where the generators are kept and switch them off with the intention of sabotaging the dancers enjoying themselves.

3.Theft

With all the people in the village converged in one homestead for the event, thieves are now in a better place to sneak into their homes and steal the tiny they can lay their hands on.

Now you know.
