For the second time in as many weeks, President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and opposition chief Raila Odinga will share podium at the coastal strip of Mombasa.

Early in December last year, the trio shared podium in Kisumu where they launched a number of development projects in the region believed to be opposition stronghold.

And Mombasa Sub County coordinator Major (Rtd) Idris Abdulhaman confirmed Raila's presence in the coastal strip, adding that he's partly in holiday.

"Yes, I was among those who welcomed him at the Moi International Airport. He is here on holiday,” said Idris who is Mombasa Sub-county Coordinator.

The three are expected to oversee ground breaking ceremony of ShSh1 billion Mama Ngina Drive regeneration, a ceremony in which Deputy President William Ruto is also expected to attend.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was first to arrive in Mombasa on SGR during Christmas celebration and is said to have met Cabinet Secretaries on Friday for an emergency meeting. Raila Odinga landed at Mombasa on Thursday from Namibia where he was on an official function.

"The ceremony will be held on Monday and the three leaders will be present. For the DP Ruto, who has been spending his holiday at Sugoi in Turbo, is expected at Mombasa on Sunday ahead of Monday's function.

Mr Odinga, who is playing a key role on Uhuru's government ever since reconciling in March last year, will attend the function however in his capacity as African Union Infrastructural Development boss, a position he assumed in 2018 October.

The meeting comes at the time Deputy President William Ruto is fighting internal squabbles in Jubilee which he has persistently accused Mr Odinga of fueling.
