In a tweet on Tuesday, the ailing NASA executive rejected the claims, saying that the party has supported him during his illness.

"I have had a recurrent heart condition for the past four months and been admitted in hospital on three occasions latest being last week .On all occasions both the coalition leadership and the @TheODMparty have stood with me, " Norman Magaya tweeted.

Magaya has been battling a heart condition that has seen him bedridden.

He was the face of the opposition coalition's struggle against the government after the disputed 2017 presidential elections that he disparaged as electoral autocracy.

Kenyans on social media have been sending him messages of support with some even calling for a paybill number to be set up to finance his medication.

He is undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital.

A few weeks ago he tweeted about the toll that his condition had heard on him.
