A middle-aged man died on Monday morning in an accident along the Nairobi-Kangundo road.

The victim who is a bodaboda operator was hit by a personal car that sped off. 

Confirming the accident that occurred at around 8am at Joska area, Matungulu Sub-County Police Commander Joel Kirui said that the bodaboda operator died on the spot.

"It was around 8am when the man on his bike was heading to Nairobi from Tala. On reaching Joska, he was hit from behind by a personal car that didn't stop," said Kirui during a phone interview.

The police commander said that investigations into the incident have begun, and called on members of the public who could have witnessed the accident to report to the police to help with investigations.

"The registration number of the vehicle is unknown. We are urging anyone who may have seen what happened to report to us so that we can trace the car which caused the accident," he said.

He urged motorists to exercise caution while on road to avert accidents.

The body of the bodaboda operator was moved to Kangundo Level Four Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
