Tongaren Member of Parliament Eseli Simiyu on Tuesday appeared to suggest that politicians publicly opposing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) are doing so on behalf of the Deputy President Dr William Ruto.
The Ford-Kenya legislator contended that the politicians were expressing their opposition in the presence of the DP yet he did not see it fit to tell them off.
"I think the deputy president doesn't have to condemn the BBI, he has enough people in his entourage to do that. What amuses me is that when they do that in his presence, when he stands up he does not tell them not to. That tells you who sent them to, " said the MP in a video shared on YouTube. (4:44-5:03)
He also noted that Kenyans were not fools as they were aware on whose behalf those opposed to the BBI were acting.
Ruto has not come out clearly on where he stands on the BBI question.
The members of the initiative's committee retreated a few weeks ago to begin the compilation of a report on their findings.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has called on Kenyans to wait for the report to be handed to him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
There is an expectation that a referendum will follow the BBI report that Odinga has said will help resolve longstanding issues that have plagued successive elections.
