Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has hit out at Neno Evangelism founder Pastor James Ng'ang'a.
While addressing the media on Thursday, Mutua said that somebody should call out Pastor Ng'ang'a before the government moves in to regulate the religious sector.
"We hope somebody is working on it because if they don't then they are inviting government regulation to the churches and its dangerous. So Evangelical Alliance of Kenya and others please come forward and say it's not okay," said Mutua.
"Let's self regulate, have a code of ethics that says 'you can't go beyond this point'. Somebody somewhere should do something so that the government doesn't come in," he added.
He further called out a similar crop of pastors, arguing that cults are mushrooming under the guise of religion.
"We won't allow in this country the mushrooming cultic association without knowing that they are preaching the right doctrine," he said.
"The conduct of the pastor must be brought to account. Nobody will be allowed to con people publicly in the name of a pastor and that's why I'm saying National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), Evangelical Alliance of Kenya and others need to call out pastor Ng'ang'a and have a conversation," he added.
He accused Pastor Ng'ang'a of employing mad theatrics in order to top social media trends in the pursuit of fame.
