Former Citizen TV anchor Hussein Mohamed on Friday hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta for honouring his service to the country.
Mohamed was among hundreds of Kenyans feted by the head of state, in a list which was briefly delayed by State House.
President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded Mohamed Moran of Order of Burning Spears (MBS), which is among the top awards given by the head of state.
"I’m humbled&honored (sic) to receive the award of the ‘Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear’, MBS. Thank you President Uhuru Kenyatta, @StateHouseKenya," he said.
The revered journalist said serving the nation is his calling, adding that he will continue to serve. He thanked friends and family for making his dream real.
"Indeed serving the nation is the true calling. To the nation that I served&will serve, thank U for the support. Again, see U soon (sic)," he added.
He quit Citizen TV in October this year after serving for ten years. He was one of the most respected news anchors within the country.
Since leaving Citizen, there has been no clue on where he would land next despite earlier claims that he would join one of the international media houses.
Citizen TV is one of the leading media houses in Kenya which is part of Royal Media Services owned by media mogul S. K. Macharia.
