Medics and residents in Nakuru county have raised alarm due to lack of well equipped ambulances and skilled personnel to operate the ambulances.According to residents, Kenya Red Cross's two ambulances based in Naivasha and Nakuru town are used during emergencies.

Speaking at a public hearing chaired by Prof James Tuitoek head of  Nakuru county health task force, the residents complained that some ambulances have stalled at the county headquarters due to lack of drivers and trained paramedics.

County governor Lee Kinyanjui had formed the team to look into what is ailing the health sector.

Out of the 23 ambulances the county owns only 8 are operating as others were involved in road accidents.

The county also lacks a regional call center and Red Cross is called in to help when there is mass casualties during road accidents.
