The cold-blood murder of Douglas Wakacha, the driver to Likuyani legislator Enock Kibunguchy, sounds like a scene straight out of Casino Royale, a high-grossing spy movie.

But it is not.

Unlike the movie which is based on fiction, the murder of Wakacha actually happened Sunday night.

The opposition MP had decided to take a short breather at the Highway Motel on his way to his rural home.

At the motel, he ordered refreshments for himself and the driver.

Almost through, the MP asked Mr Wakacha to go start the engine, rev it up, in readiness for the resumption of their journey.

Wakacha obliged.

The engine had just roared to life when when the sound of gunfire rent the air.

He was caught in the fire.

The assailants moved to the car to look at their victim and that is when it dawned on them that they had hit the wrong target.

They scurried upstairs, leaving Wakacha in a pool of blood.

Entering the place that they thought their target was, one of them corked the gun only for the magazine to drop.

Lights went off.

They disappeared without having taken out the target of their grim assignment.

But they had killed Wakacha.
