Addressing Nyamira people during this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations at Ekerenyo grounds in Nyamira North sub county, Nyamira County Commisioner Isaiah Nakoru urged civil servants to desist from attending funeral functions that fall on Fridays.

"It is very normal for you to attend a funeral of a loved one but it has come to my attention that a number of civil servants evade from their work places mostly on fridays with obvious reasons of attending funerals but can't this functions be held on Saturday or Sunday?" Nakoru posed.

Nakoru further decried high number of insecurity cases which have been reported in recent days further warning those involved.

"Cases of insecurity have been in the rise in recent days like in Magwagwa, Mosobeti and some parts of Keroka but we are combing those areas and some I haven't mentioned and soon we will catch up with you criminals," he added.

He further urged locals to join hands with security agencies in curbing criminal activities in the area.

"Criminals who are terrorising us live among ourselves and it is a pity that some members of the public are shielding this criminals who are giving us sleepless nights, please if you happen to know some of them avail reliable information to us."
