Machakos Governor Dr.Alfred Mutua has attacked the church for allowing social evil reign in the Holy temples of God as they have paved way for dirty politics to be displayed in the church corridors.
Speaking at Radio Maisha on Tuesday, the former Government spokesperson said it is worrying seeing the church used as conduits of hiding laundered money and proceeds of corruption in the form of donations and contributions.
"It is a pity that the church is being compromised with unexplainable large sums of money from politicians. I'm also of the opinion that the church is being used to launder money," he posted on his twitter handle.
His remarks come as the debate on churches regulation continues boiling and the unravelling of the 'evil' acts committed in churches by both the political class and the clergy.
Politicians have in the recent past turned churches as their political tools in which they use to spew hatred, division and conflicts among individuals, groups and inclinations making the church lose its relevance in the current society.
Money laundering is an economic crime in which people try 'cleaning' their dirty money through in this case helping in the development and empowerment of the spiritual faithfulness.
