The just-concluded cultural week may be the biggest and most active of all that has ever happened at Moi University.
The climax of the event was on Friday night where Mr. and Miss culture 2018/19 were crowned. The cultural week Gala night was well attended especially owing to the fact that there was no entrance fee.
Despite the success of the event, it did not go without its own fair share of drama. What seemed to be a calm and peaceful audience suddenly turned chaotic after two comrades got into a physical fight. The security personnel tried to separate the two but their involvement only made the situation worse.
The fight allegedly erupted after one of the comrades threw a tumbler at the other who was taking a photo of a model. Angered by the gesture, the later stood up and attacked the former. A few minutes before the fight, a similar tumbler had been thrown near the stage.
The fight almost paralyzed the whole event as the two were seated near the judges. The modelling had to stop until the situation had been brought under control.
The two comrades were evidently drunk. It took the security around 20 minutes to separate them. They were then escorted out of the event.
