24-year-old Penina Chelang'at and her husband Charles Kalemunyang' already have four more children, all aged below 10. This brings the total number of children in the family to 8, a rather unbelievable tally considering the youthful age of Penina.

But to neighbours, the incident is a sign of blessings as per the community, despite being negative on the poor couple which lives in a grass-thatched hut with their children.

"We are happy that despite the challenges we face, especially drought, we can still get such blessings,” Peter Detee, a neighbour was quoted by the Standard.

The father, Kalumenyang', is however now calling upon the government, well wishers and donors to step in and aid him in taking care of the large family.

He said that despite being very happy for the blessings, he has since been forced to sell his livestock to provide for his family but seems to be losing the battle.

"I have sold all my goats and sheep to feed my family. When my wife delivered the quadruplets, I was overjoyed but later, I discovered it was hard for me to take care of the family. My wife has to be fed well so that she can breastfeed the babies," he said.

Journalists who visited the family at their home offered them Christmas gifts, adding more joy them this festive season.
