In an interview with the media, she revealed that the name 'Dodo' came about as a result of the love her father had for her.

He, she says, was the one who started it and it quintessentially took root so much that many did not even know her real name.

Doreen has a strong Sports background having started playing football at a very tender age. She has two kids as well as an adapted oneone, making a total of  three kids.

She was the first ever Kenyan woman to grace the European football platform and even performed exquisitely well winning the German footballer of the year in the 2008/2009 season.

She further revealed that she later moved to the Netherlands where she did her UEFA C Coaching License and signed up for FC Zwolle in the Dutch women top division league in the 2011 season. She then returned to Germany with FC cologne for the 2013/2014 season.

Her journey to the top of her game has not been an easy one having to work extremely hard as well as being disciplined and enduring which, she says, are the primary tenents required to succeed in anything. She also says she always accepted corrections and was keen to learn newer things.

She reveals that she also worked as a consultant at Phoenix Safaris but had to abandon that because it the proffession was taking a lot of her time such that she could not get the time to play her football. She then decided to engage fully in the sport.

She says football is a sport like any other and that women deserve to be given the same attention and specialty attached to the discipline as is with the male generation.

Doreen currently works at FKF as a Women Football Development Officer/Competitions Officer.

Hers has been a nice journey to the very top and all girls across the country who have a passion for the sport should perhaps seek to emulate her.
