Troops allied to Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and DP William Ruto from Gusii region could yet again have another duel on Sunday next week.
About three weeks ago, the two teams met at Dr Hezron Manduku's funeral in Nyaribari Masaba, with Dr Ruto losing Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi.
The two teams shall yet again share podium at billionaire businessman Stephen Mogeni's home in Borabu constituency on Sunday next week.
At Manduku's burial, only South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro stood with Dr Ruto, with other colleagues chosing to snub the burial.
"He shall be brought from Kisumu on Monday and burial shall be on Sunday at Kerumbe in Borabu. Several politicians shall be attending," said Dancan Omenge, a close ally of MP Ben Momanyi.
Coincidentally, the deceased is an uncle to Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mogeni, who has been pushing for the candidature of Dr Fred Matiang'i.
In an address to the media, Senator Okong'o Mogeni said recently that plans were in place to ensure the businessman is given a descent sendoff.
"We are planning on well. We shall brief the people on the progress very soon. We shall ensure that he's given a descent sendoff," said Mogeni.
While it's much unlikely that Dr Ruto shall attend, Dr Matiang'i could make a special appearance given his close friendship with Mogeni family.
Closely to be monitored are Dr Ruto's allies Joash Nyamoko, Vincent Kemosi and Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, given their strong support to the DP.
Leaders from both Kisii and Nyamira Counties are divided on who to support with Ruto's allies accusing Dr Matiang'i of undermining him.
