Kenyans have elicited mixed reactions after the widow of slain billionaire Tob Cohen, Sarah Wairimu was released on released on KSh 4 million bond or KSh 2 million cash bail.
Wairimu, who is the prime suspect in the murder of the businessman, was released on Friday after successful application.
Her lawyer Philip Murgor has maintained that she is innocent despite the prosecution insisting that it has sufficient evidence against her.
State Counsel Wangoi Gichuhi had asked the court not to free her on the ground that she is likely to interfere with the evidence and hence jeopardise the whole process.
“The accused person has admitted to not having a fixed aboard and releasing her on bail will jeopardize the case,” she told the court.
Wairimu has vowed to fight for her justice. During the burial of her late husband, Wairimu said that the days of the killers are numbered.
The billionaire’s body was discovered in a septic tank at her Kitsuru home 40 days after he went missing. The widow had told the investigators that Cohen had traveled to Thailand before he was found dead.
The investigators had also established that the deceased never left the country. Cohen left nothing for Sarah in a disputed will.
