The arrest of renowned blogger Dennis Itumbi by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has elicited a lot of reactions from Kenyans.
Itumbi was arrested in Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon and taken to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road for questioning.
Reacting to the arrest, Raila Odinga Junior noted that a lot of things have changed in the country, adding that anyone can now be arrested regardless of his/her political alignment.
"Kenya a year ago was very different. Who is opposition really? “Dennis Itumbi” arrested?
"Goes to show you don’t need movies in Kenya, we have drama abode," he tweeted.
The DCI is yet to issue an official statement on the arrest, but reports indicate that it could be linked to recent allegations on a plot to assassinate deputy president William Ruto.
Meanwhile, lawyer Donald Kipkorir has accused Itumbi and his colleagues of spreading fake news, adding that he should be charged with treason.
