Two Kisumu County teams will grace both the boys’ and the girls’ categories of this year’s edition of the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Nyanza region finals after they defeated their opponents in semi-finals.
The two, hosts Manyatta United beat Nyamaharaga FC 4-0 in the second boys’ semi-final, shortly after Nyamira Springs defeated Victory Strikers 7-6 via post-match penalties in the first boys’ semi-final.
The matches which were played at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium on Saturday will see Manyatta United FC face Nyamira Springs in the Boys’ final on Sunday.
Elsewhere, hosts Manyatta Ladies booked the final spot in the Ladies Category after thrashing Kisii County’s Kisii Ladies 6-0, while Homabay’s NCEOD Queens bettered that scoreline by defeating Migori’s Migori Education Centre 7-0 in the other girls’ semi-final.
The two teams will now meet at the final tomorrow.
Both Manyatta sides are under the Manyatta Youth Resource Centre which is headed by Mzee Anthony Oballa.
Nyanza region will have new Champions after last year’s winners Ombek Red Devils and Plateau Queens from Nyakach failed at the initial stages of the tournament this year.
The winners in both categories will represent Nyanza in the national finals to be held in Meru, in June this year.
