Fear has engulfed residents of Bondo constituency in Siaya county over increasing insecurity.
The residents are now calling for police intervention to tame the growing cases of murders in the constituency.
About five people have been reportedly killed in the area in the last few months, including a former civic leader.
Former councillor George Owino was last week laid to rest after he was killed at his home in Urudi Diere village in Central Yimbo Location.
The vocal leader was hacked to death at 8pm by people who had apparently followed him from his shop in the nearby Usigu Trading center.
The latest incident happened two weeks ago when the body of a villager was retrieved from a maize plantation in Obedi village.
This came only weeks after another man was found dead and his body disposed the same way.
The man identified as Kevin Onyango was confirmed to have been killed after being hit with a blunt object in the head according to a pathology test.
The situation has since attracted the attention of area leaders, with former area lawmaker Oburu Oginga linking the same to alleged laziness by law enforcers.
“Failure by the police to tame insecurity has seen the rising cases of death and illicit liquor trade,” the East African Legislative Assembly parliamentarian is quoted by the Standard.
